Likelihood of whales. The fiords of Greenland have always been a center for people due to the high amount of resources, fish, whales, and reindeer. Recently the fiord of Nuuk became protected for humpback whales – meaning this is the only place in Greenland where they can’t be hunted. We find that 3 hours is the perfect time in Nuuk to get to the whales. But of course, we do not offer any form of guarantee of seeing the whales as these wild animals move around of their own free will. The deep fiords are in some places all the way down to 600 meters in depth, which is the perfect place for the great gentle giants, the humpback whales. The humpback whale is the whale we usually see in the fiords around Nuuk, and it is easily recognizable by its beautiful tail. To experience these giants of the sea at close range is almost a spiritual experience that overwhelms many.

Hotel Maniitsoq prepares a special brunch for our passengers with local produce. The beautiful restaurant is located a few feet away from the sea on the island of Maniitsoq, overlooking the stunning panoramic view of kilometer-high rising cliffs and mountains of the mainland.
